Pillows for Patriots Profile page
In late July 2009, Barb Farrior watched a segment of the Today Show about a woman in New Jersey with a sewing school that sent pillows she had made to troops overseas.
Army Captain Justin Daubert, Barb's son, was slated to leave out of Fort Riley, Kansas for his third tour in the Middle East. He had also previously spent a year in Iraq and another in Afghanistan.
John and Patrick Harris of Harris Pillow Supply, hometown friends of Barb's, very generously agreed to make washable, compact-size pillows specifically with the combat troops in mind and do so at their cost.
Barb contacted friends Jenny and Ken Bush whose son, Marine Lt. Jonathan Bush, was already at a forward operating base in Afghanistan. The excitement for the project from all concerned was electric.
Pillows For Patriots was born.
With the donations and support from the local community the first shipment of pillows immediately was sent to Justin's company at Fort Riley, Kansas, to be distributed as the troops boarded planes for Iraq. The second shipment of pillows was sent to Jonathan's forward operating base in Afghanistan.
Since those initial shipments, thousands of pillows have been sent to troops either already in combat zones or on their way to combat zones due to the generous support of enthusiastic and generous fellow Americans.
Thank you for caring so much about "Our Heroes" .
